PRAWN SAMBAL RECIPE ( SAMBAL UDANG)

Sambal Udang (Prawn Sambal)

Prawn sambal recipe is one of the famous recipes in malaysia. Very easy to prepare. The materials used are very easy to get. Good to eat with hot rice. This dish is a bit spicy and in keeping with Asian tastes. Good to try this recipe .



Ingredients:
o   3 tables poons oil
o   500g  prawn/shrimp, shelled and deveined
o   2 cups water
o   2 tablespoons tamarind pulp, mixed with 1/2 cup water and strained
o   3 kaffir lime leaves, sliced thinly
o   2 teaspoons salt or to taste
o   1 teaspoons sugar or to taste

Spice Paste
o   10 dry red chilies, deseeded. If you want spicy can add chillies
o   10 shallots, peeled
o   30g belacan @ Shrimp flavor

Method:

o   Pound the spice paste using a mortar and pestle or grind with a food processor. Set aside.
o   Heat up the cooking oil in a wok. Add the spice paste and stir-fry until aromatic.
o   Add the prawn and continue to stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes.

o   Add in the water, tamarind juice and bring it to a quick boil. Add in the kaffir lime leaves, salt, and sugar. Ready for serving. Eat with hot rice
