PUTU MAKANAN TRADISI SUKU KAUM BAJAU PANTAI TIMUR SABAH

Putu merupakan salah satu makanan tradisi suku kaum Bajau Pantai Timur di Sabah dan mempunyai peranan yang sama dengan nasi iaitu sebagai makanan utama. Putu atau piutu ini boleh dijadikan makanan untuk menggantikan nasi. Orang tua suku kaum Bajau lebih suka makan putu berbanding nasi.

Putu dihasilkan sepenuhnya dari ubi kayu yang diparut halus. Proses penghasilan putu adalah seperti berikut :

Ubi kayu akan dibuang kulit, dibersihkan dan diparut



Diperah buang air dan jadi tepung ubi



Tepung di stim dan jadi putu


 Rasa putu agak kenyal dan masam sedikit. Sesuai dimakan dengan ikan Bakar, ikan goreng, ampap, sagol dan lain lain lauk tradisi sabah. Putu boleh tahan lama dan selalunya nelayan yang akan kelaut akan membawa bekal putu kerana ia boleh bertahan lama 2-3 hari. Selain itu apabila dimakan ia mengenyangkan dan boleh tahan lapar pun agak lama berbanding makan nasi.


Peringatan juga janganlah minum minuman bergas apabila makan putu kerana putu adalah ubi yang diproses dan akan berlaku tindak balas apabila meminum minuman bergas setelah memakan putu. Perut akan rasa kembung dan tidak menyenangkan.
